The Ellenville High School Music Department presented its Autumn Concert the evening of Nov. 9. The event included performances by the Festival Choir, the Symphonic Band, the Women’s Choir, the Jazz Ensemble, and the Chamber Singers, who are conducted by David Trombley and were joined by guest violist Akiko Hosoi.
Ms. Hosoi, who is Mr. Trombley’s daughter-in-law, has performed worldwide and is a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Stamford Symphony Orchestra. She regularly performs chamber music with musicians in New York City and is an active member of Nesin Cultural Arts in Sullivan County, where she is a violin and chamber music faculty member of the Summer Institute and co-founder of the Aspiring Young Musicians program. Ms. Hosoi accompanied the select singers on “December Rose,” a choral piece composed of words form a German carol and music from a traditional Irish carol.
