Monday afternoon, June 19, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Rolling V school bus carrying four Ellenville students was involved in a one-vehicle incident on Mountaindale Road. No one was hurt.

The bus, which was transporting students home at the end of the school day, left the roadway during the afternoon’s severe weather. The driver immediately contacted Rolling V’s transportation dispatcher who then contacted 911 and District officials.

Police, fire, and ambulance agencies responded to the scene, as did school officials, including Superintendent Lisa A. Wiles.

All passengers disembarked without assistance and appeared unharmed. As a precaution and as per District policy, the students were evaluated by medical professionals. As an additional precaution the students were taken to Ellenville Hospital for examination. All of the students were then released to their parents and guardians.

The driver of the bus was uninjured and, as per policy, a drug and alcohol test was administered.

The safety of our students is always our top priority, and the incident remains under investigation.
