Parents and teens in the Ellenville Central School District are invited to come learn how to be good digital citizens during a Social Media and Safe Networking Forum, held in the Ellenville High School Auditorium on Wednesday, October 4, at 6:30 PM.

During the forum, New York State Trooper Craig Vedder, School and Community Outreach Coordinator for Troop F, will discuss appropriate and responsible technology use and share tips on how to stay safe online. Other topics will include social media, cyberbullying, sexting, and digital footprints.

“In this day and age, our students are spending more and more time on the internet and interacting with each other on social media,” said Ellenville Superintendent of Schools Lisa Wiles. “It’s important to remind them how to stay safe and how to be good digital citizens.”

Free childcare will be available during the evening. A student-led social media session will take place in the auditorium lobby prior to the presentation, at 6 PM. Refreshments will be served.
