Congratulations to MHAL Senior Scholar-Athletes Alyssa Santiago and Isabelle Donohue

Alyssa Santiago and Isabelle Donohue were named this year’s Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athlete Award recipients for Ellenville High School (EHS). The awards, which are given to two students from each school in the League, are based on athletic performance and academic merit.

With a grade point average (GPA) of 96.2, Alyssa was ranked fifth in her class. She played Varsity Girls Soccer and Varsity Softball all four years at EHS, and competed on the Varsity Indoor Track team. She was also a member of the Chamber Choir, Jazz Band, Drama Club, Ellenville Futsal Club, Student Council, Chemistry Club, Environmental Club, Science Olympiad, and National Honor Society.

Alyssa earned 12 varsity letters at EHS. She was named captain of the Softball team in Grade 12 and captain of the Soccer team in Grade 10. She was a MHAL Scholar-Athlete in Grades 9-12 and was named the Softball Most Valuable Player in 2019. In addition, she was a 2019 Daily Freeman Second Team All-Star Softball Selection and 2018 Daily Freeman Softball All-Star Selection Honorable Mention.

Her charitable work includes volunteering for the Walden Humane Society, and as an assistant coach for Ellenville Futsal and skills coach for Ellenville Little League.

Alyssa plans to attend the State University of New York at Fredonia in the fall, where she will major in Music Therapy and minor in Psychology. She will also be playing for the college’s Softball team.

Isabelle finished out her High School career with a 94.6 GPA. She played Varsity Tennis for four years and Varsity Golf for six years.

Ranked tenth in her class, Isabelle was a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. She was involved in the Sgt. Kenneth VonRonn Memorial 5K and the Kerhonkson Elementary School PTA.

Isabelle will be attending Clarkson University in the fall and majoring in Civil Engineering.
