Letter: Athletics Update

Dear Ellenville Community and Families,

As you are aware, students in grades 7-12 who have opted for in-person learning, have returned to school. This letter will provide an update with regard to Interscholastic sports for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

Winter Sports

As of this communication, there has been no authorization from the Governor’s office to commence with the sports of basketball and wrestling, which are considered high-risk sports. In addition, due to several logistical issues, the ability to offer our Indoor Track and Field program in this current situation would be extremely challenging with regard to assuring the safety and health of our student athletes and coaches. Therefore we will not be offering a winter athletic program this school year.

Fall 2 Sports Season

A Fall 2 season is tentatively scheduled to begin March 1st. As we get closer to this date, detailed information regarding the registration process and specific details and parameters for the Fall 2 season will be disseminated to our student-athletes and families. We continue to ask for your continued patience and understanding during this most difficult time. We thank you for your on-going support and we look forward to providing meaningful interscholastic athletic experiences at a more suitable time.

Spring Sports Season

The spring sports season is slated to begin April 19th and conclude in mid-June. Similar to the Fall 2 season, as we approach the starting date, specific information will be communicated to our student-athletes and families.

Family ID/New Athletic Registration Platform

In preparation for the planned Fall 2 and Spring Sports seasons, the Athletic Department will be offering the convenience of online registration for those interested in participating in our sports programs through FamilyID. FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides student-athletes and their families an easy, user friendly way to register for our programs. Further information will be provided over the next few weeks in regards to the roll-out of this new platform.
