Dear Parents/Guardians/Caregivers,

Each spring, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) administers State Assessments to students in grades 3-8. This year, more than ever, these assessments will serve as a valuable tool for school districts, administrators, and teachers to continue to evaluate student progress and address learning gaps.

To encourage all students to participate in these assessments, we are including important information and updates.

Important Information:

  • State assessments WILL NOT impact student grades.

  • Student performance on the 2021 assessments will have NO consequences for teachers and principal evaluations.

Important Updates:

  • There will be ONE session (multiple choice) for grades 3-8 ELA and Math assessments, as well as only the written session for the Grade 4 & 8 Science assessments.

  • All assessments MUST be administered in-person.

  • Virtual students have the option to attend in-person to complete the assessments.

    • If you are choosing to have your virtual child(ren) come in to take any of the assessments, call the middle school main office by Wednesday, April 13, 2021, so arrangements can be made.
