Ellenville Central Schools To Host

Capital Project Informational Night

ELLENVILLE – Ellenville Central Schools will host a Capital Project Informational Night 6 p.m. Tues., Dec. 2, in the High School Media Center.

Ellenville’s District Superintendent Lisa A. Wiles and School Business Administrator Vince Napoli will lead a presentation explaining the proposed $14.4 million Capital Project, which goes before voters Dec. 16.

The Capital Project includes safety, infrastructure and energy efficiency upgrades to all three of the District’s schools. It is anticipated that 76 percent, or about $10.9 million, of the Capital Project would be funded by New York State Building Aid. This leaves a local share of approximately $3.5 million, which is not anticipated to increase taxes because the district has existing debt that will soon be paid off. The cost for this new work can take the place of the retiring debt.

The project includes replacing several end-of-life systems, including upgrades to two major components: converting the Elementary School’s circa 1955 steam heat system to more efficient hot water, and providing new roofs for the three schools. A detailed list of all proposed work can be found at

The Capital Project Informational Night presentation will include a detailed explanation of how the work can be funded and why the repairs and upgrades are necessary. There will also be time for questions and answers from the public.

There are other opportunities to learn more about the Capital Project. Look for Superintendent Lisa A. Wiles or School Business Administrator Vince Napoli and the Capital Project Information Station at the following events.
