Fingerprint Clearance Process

Before commencing work all employees / volunteers must have fingerprint clearance.

New York State law requires applicants for certification and prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and BOCES to undergo a fingerprint supported criminal history background check.

  1. Go to and schedule your fingerprinting.
  2. When you arrive for your appointment you must have a government issued photo identification, your receipt or voucher from Step 1, and you must know or have access to your social security number.
  3. Your fingerprints will be processed within 72 hours. You can check your account in TEACH for the status of your clearance request.
