Dear Parents/Guardians:
This week representatives from the District attended various meetings regarding COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus. We are in contact with the Ulster County Department of Health regarding any local updates and information.
We are closely monitoring this evolving situation and continue to follow guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the New York State Department of Health, the Ulster County Department of Health and the New York State Education Department. It is important to keep in mind that the information is changing frequently, which will determine what actions will be taken in the future.
The District has taken the following proactive measures to minimize the spread of any illnesses:
- Thorough cleaning and disinfecting throughout the schools, concentrating on high touch surfaces.
- Signage posted in all buildings as a reminder to faculty, staff and students about proper hygiene.
- Additional cleaning and disinfecting by our bus contractor.
This weekend our cleaners will perform a deep cleaning of our buildings.
Below you will find a list of recommendations to prevent the spread of any illnesses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. If you use a tissue, throw it in the trash.
- Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Centers for Disease Control recommends that travelers avoid all travel to China.
Please visit the District’s website for more information.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
