Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff:
The Ellenville Central School District is in continuous contact with the Ulster County Department of Health and our School Physician and is taking proactive steps regarding novel coronavirus (COVID-19). It is important to note that there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Ellenville schools.
As part of the District's efforts to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and community, the District is postponing all indoor after school events with mass gatherings through the end of March. Today, the decision was made to postpone the following:
-
FUTSAL Tournament: March 14, 2020
-
PTO sponsored Girls Someone Special Dance: March 13, 2020
-
PTO sponsored Boys Someone Special Dance: March 20, 2020
-
High School Musical, Into the Woods: March 20 and March 21, 2020
This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution. We understand that the postponement of these events will cause disappointment to our students and families, but health experts advise that “social distancing” is an effective way to quell the spread of COVID-19. We look forward to rescheduling these events and appreciate your patience as we all contend with this challenging situation.
We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and will share updates on the District website (www.ecs.k12.ny.us), the District’s Facebook page, and letters home to parents. We will remain in constant contact with the NYS and County Health Departments and will continue to follow their advice and guidance.
More information regarding COVID-19 can be found on the Ulster County Department of Health website at https://ulstercountyny.gov/coronavirus
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The safety of our students and staff will always be our priority.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Wiles
Superintendent of Schools
