Dear Parents & Guardians,
I want to provide you with an update regarding the District’s efforts to provide continuous learning activities to students while we remain closed. While you may have many questions regarding the upcoming days, weeks, and months that lie ahead, please understand that we may not have all the answers at the moment. We are taking direction from the New York State Education Department, the New York State/Ulster County Health Department, the Ulster County Executive and the Governor’s office as it becomes available to ensure that we are providing our students with the best possible education during this uncertain time.
Return to School:
The decision regarding the opening of school will come from the Governor’s office. The current directive is that schools are closed until April 1. As of today, we have not received any further directive from the Governor. We will continue to provide guidance on the return date as it is made available.
Learning Materials:
In anticipation of an extended school closure, teachers have been working hard to prepare continuous learning activity packets for students. These packets contain all the learning activities that students are expected to complete through April 17. In the event that we continue to remain closed after April 17, we will send further guidance on continuous learning. All parents/guardians are expected to pick up the learning materials for their child. In the event that you are unable to pick up the learning materials for your child, you are expected to contact the main office of your child’s school. Parents/guardians may pick up learning materials outside of the main lobby of your child’s building during the following times:

Completion of these learning activities provide an opportunity for continuity of education until school reopens. Students may submit their completed assignments digitally or in person when school reopens. We highly encourage all students to take advantage of the learning activities to minimize the loss of momentum and academic progress.
Where appropriate, learning activities will be posted on the District’s Continuous Learning Opportunities Website. A link to this website can be found at the top of the District’s homepage at ecs.k12.ny.us.
Communication with Teachers:
During the closure, teachers will be working from home to provide students support with the continuous learning activities. Teachers will be following their regular school day schedule. In the event that you or your child needs to communicate with a teacher they will be available as follows:

Teachers will be in touch with you using their preferred method of communication. If the above noted times do not work for you, you may work out a mutually agreeable time with the teacher.
Marking Period 3 Report Cards:
Teachers will be preparing Marking Period 3 report cards and grades will be determined based on learning that took place from January 27 through March 12. Report cards will be mailed home on/around April 10.
Chromebooks & Student Google Accounts:
Chromebooks were available for pickup on March 24 and March 25. If you are still in need of a Chromebook, or need assistance logging into the Chromebook or accessing your child’s Google account on a personal device, please contact the main office of your child’s school. For teachers who are using Google Classroom, there is a tutorial for students and parents/guardians posted on the homepage of the District website to refer to, if needed. If you have any additional technology questions, you may call the main office of your child’s school.

Las actividades de aprendizaje proporciona la oportunidad para la continuidad de la educación. Los estudiantes pueden enviar sus tareas completadas digitalmente o en persona cuando la escuela vuelva a abrir. La comunicación con los maestros:

Los maestros se pondrán en contacto con usted utilizando el método de comunicación preferido del maestro. Si los tiempos indicados no funcionan para usted, puede hacer un horario diferente con el maestro.
Notas del tercer período:
Los maestros prepararán las notas del tercer período y determinarán el rendimiento de aprendizaje que se llevó a cabo desde el 27 de enero hasta el 12 de marzo. Las notas se enviarán por correo el 10 de abril.
Chromebooks y cuentas de Google para estudiantes:
Chromebooks se distribuyeron el 24 de marzo y el 25 de marzo. Si usted todavía necesita un Chromebook o necesitan asistencia con el Chromebook o ayuda con acceder la cuenta de Google de su hijo, por favor, póngase en contacto con la oficina principal de la escuela de su hijo.
