The third annual Ellenville High School Hall of Fame class has been announced. The Class of 2020 includes four of the most accomplished athletes in Ellenville athletic history and an outstanding coach.
This year's Hall of Fame inductees include wrestling standouts Anibal and Alberto Nieves. The brothers graduated in 1984 and combine for a lengthy list of notable accomplishments on the state, national and international level.
Joining the Nieves’ in this year’s class is Danielle Borriello. Boriello is a 2014 graduate and is being inducted for her accomplishments in track and field, including a New York State Championship in the discus.
Aimee Capello is a 1992 graduate and is being honored as one of the best overall softball players in Ellenville history. Capello is the only player to have competed for five years on the varsity team and finished with a .404 career batting average.
Rounding out the Class of 2020 is former long-time Ellenville coach, Lance Lewin. Lewin successfully coached several sports in his three decades at Ellenville but was best known for leading the Blue Devils softball team to a NY State 2nd place finish - the most successful season of any Ellenville team in history.
Despite the uncertainty of the 2020-2021 high school athletic schedule due to Covid-19, the Hall of Fame Induction will take place on Saturday, October 17th, at noon on the high school football field. The inductees and invited guests will be treated to a morning breakfast prior to the ceremony.
