Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
As we prepare for the transition into our inclement weather season, we want to share with you the District’s plan for delayed openings and emergency closings during the COVID-19 pandemic. All decisions regarding delayed openings and emergency closings will continue to be made with the safety of our students and staff remaining top priority.
Delayed Openings (1 or 2 hour delays)
On days where it is necessary to operate on a delay schedule, teachers will report to their assigned building in accordance with their building’s delay schedule. Students will not report to campus and will participate in remote learning following the attached delayed opening schedule.
Emergency Closings
On days where it is necessary to call an emergency closing, there will be no instruction for students. Teachers will not report to campus or be required to connect with students remotely. There are 9 emergency closing days allocated for the 2020-21 school year. If more than 9 emergency days are used, we may utilize remote instruction days if possible, instead of making up days from Spring Recess.
Early Release (Weather Related)
With students in grades K - 6 reporting for in-person learning on a half day schedule, at this time, there is no need to plan for a weather related early dismissal.
To support families with planning, the District will make an effort to announce delayed openings and emergency closings the night before. As the District has done in the past with delayed openings and emergency closings, this information will be shared with the school community using our robo-caller system, postings to the District Facebook page and school website, and broadcasting on our area radio and television stations.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Wiles
