Ellenville High School Boys Varsity Soccer team claims first-ever Section 9 title

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Soccer Team! On Tuesday, April 20th, our team completed a magical season, claiming their first-ever Section 9 title. The game was played at Rondout Valley High School on their new turf field. The match was highly competitive and evenly matched against the number
one seed and undefeated Liberty Indians.
The Blue Devils competed well in the first half and were down by 1-0 at the end of the first half. In the second half, we kept the pressure on and scored 2 goals in the first fourteen minutes of the second half. Our defense played an incredible second
half in preventing Liberty from scoring, allowing us to earn the come from behind 2-1 victory.
Coach Mead had the following to share after the victory:
This was a proud night for our student athletes and me. Two months ago, we were not sure if we would have a season. One month ago, we were not sure if there would be any type of play-offs. Last night, we were crowned Section 9 Class B boys' soccer champions for the first time in school history!! It was an amazing feeling to be on the field and see how much it meant for our kids. People who were there got to see first hand the positive impact that sports can have on an individual and their community.
