Dear Parents/Guardians & Staff,
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) recently released information regarding COVID-19
testing in schools which states that the District must offer COVID-19 screening testing for
unvaccinated students, on a weekly basis, in geographic areas identified by the CDC as having
moderate, substantial, or high transmission rates. Currently our geographic area is identified as a
high transmission area, therefore, the District is offering weekly testing for any unvaccinated
students who wish to be tested.
COVID-19 testing is optional and your child is not required to be tested. Any parent/guardian who
wishes to have their child tested weekly for COVID-19 must complete a form, accessed via this link,
no later than Monday September 27, 2021. Completing this form helps us plan accordingly.
The District is working with Ulster County to obtain Binex nasal swab rapid tests and the County
will be providing individuals to perform the weekly testing along with our nursing staff. Once all
the information has been collected, additional communication will be provided to families who opted
for the weekly testing, including when the testing will begin.
Please note as part of the new requirements from NYSDOH, when a school is in a geographic area
identified by the CDC as having low, moderate, substantial, or high transmission rates all
unvaccinated staff are required to have testing performed for COVID-19 at least once a week. Staff
who are vaccinated are not required to be tested weekly if they submit proof of being fully
vaccinated against COVID-19.

El Departamento de Salud del Estado de Nueva York (NYSDOH) recientemente publicó información sobre las pruebas de COVID-19 en las escuelas que establece que el Distrito debe ofrecer pruebas de detección semanalmente en áreas geográficas identificadas por los CDC por tener tasas de transmisión moderadas, sustanciales o altas para estudiantes que no están vacunados,. Actualmente nuestra área geográfica está identificada como un área de alta transmisión, por lo tanto, el Distrito está ofreciendo pruebas semanales para cualquier estudiante que no esté vacunado que desee hacerse la prueba.
La prueba de COVID-19 es opcional y no es necesario que su hijo se haga la prueba. Cualquier padre / guardián que desee que su hijo sea examinado semanalmente para detectar COVID-19 debe completar este formulario, antes del lunes 27 de septiembre de 2021.
El distrito está trabajando con el condado de Ulster para obtener pruebas rápidas con hisopos nasales de Binex y el condado proporcionará personas para realizar las pruebas semanales junto con nuestro personal de enfermería. Cuando se haya recopilado la información, se proporcionará información adicional a las familias, incluso cuándo comenzarán las pruebas.
