Sarah Mitchell's library classes have created a delightful "Monsters Around Ellenville" book that's now available in the Ellenville Elementary School Library!
Inspired by author Daniel Jude Miller's visit in February, students first crafted colorful "tissue box monsters," each with its own unique personality. Then the monsters were unleashed as students positioned their creations throughout the school and developed creative stories about how and why the monsters appeared there.
From monsters caught sneaking into the physical education teacher's window to others falling asleep on the Pre-K classroom rug, the monsters took advantage of every Elementary School amenity. Mitchell photographed the monsters' adventures, combining the images with students' writing to create a bound book dedicated to Miller and his inspiration.
