Ellenville Elementary students learned all about fire prevention and safety this week from the experts! The school hosted fire trucks from the community, allowing students to get an up-close look at what it takes to perform this life-saving role.
Students got hands-on experience practicing with fire hoses, looking through thermal imaging cameras, trying on firefighter helmets (briefly—they're quite heavy for young ones!), and learning the proper technique for checking doors during a fire using the back of your hand.
A big thank you to the firefighters from Ellenville, Napanoch, and Cragsmoor who generously shared their time to demonstrate their equipment and discuss fire prevention and safety with our students.
