Geologist visits Grade 6 classes

Grade 6 students at Ellenville Elementary School received a special visitor recently who rocked their day—literally and figuratively! Retired geologist Mark Davin, an old friend of Joseph Martelli, delivered an interactive presentation on rocks and minerals that brought geologic time to life. Students learned just how vast Earth's history truly is: counting every second of geologic time would take hundreds of years!

Davin then unveiled an impressive collection of rocks and minerals, including specimens found right here in Ellenville. The best part? Every student received their own rock and magnifying glass to continue exploring the geologic world around them.
