On January 15, the Ellenville Senior High School Band visited the Elementary School for a special performance for Grades 3 and 4 students. Band Director Laurie Worden had the band perform in sections so that students could identify the distinct tonal qualities of different instrument families. Playing recognizable tunes like the theme from "Back to the Future" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from Mary Poppins, the performances helped younger students experience different instruments up close and imagine what they might like to play in the future.
Brass, woodwinds, and percussion all got their moment to shine, showcasing sounds from low to high pitches. Students eagerly raised their hands to guess each tune, making it an interactive experience. This musical event helped younger students start thinking about the instruments and sounds that might represent them.
