Ellenville Elementary School students enjoyed a fun and educational visit with local firefighters on October 7 in recognition of Fire Prevention Month.
Throughout the visit, students learned about important fire safety practices, including regularly checking smoke alarm batteries, developing a family evacuation plan with a designated meeting spot, and knowing what to do if their clothing catches fire.
Students also got an up-close look at the equipment firefighters use to protect their communities, including fire hoses, specialized rescue tools, and heavy protective gear. One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to explore a real fire truck and try on honorary firefighter helmets.
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to learn about fire prevention and safety directly from the local firefighters who serve their community.
The Ellenville Central School District extends its sincere thanks to the firefighters from the Ellenville Fire District, Napanoch Fire Department, Summitville Fire Department, and Cragsmoor Fire Company for generously sharing their time, demonstrating their equipment, and teaching students important lessons about fire safety.
