Winners of Ulster County's Ulster County Teen Dating Violence and Human Trafficking Video and Mixed Media Contest

When students turn creativity into advocacy, powerful change occurs! Students from Tim Lukaszewski's TV/Radio Production program at Ellenville Junior/Senior High School dominated the Ulster County Teen Dating Violence and Human Trafficking Video and Mixed Media Contest. Our insightful students claimed all top three spots in both the video competition and the poster category, demonstrating exceptional creativity and commitment to addressing serious social issues.

The contest, held annually since 2014, challenges students to produce creative short informative videos or mixed media that identify signs of unhealthy or abusive relationships and provide information on where to go for help.

The achievements were celebrated at a special ceremony attended by Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, Department of Social Services Commissioner Michael Iapoce, Assistant to the County Executive Vanessa Shea, and Crime Victims Counselor Ann Restivo. Village of Ellenville Police Chief and Board of Education President Phil Mattracion also spoke, introducing the District’s School Resource Officers.

These students used their creative skills to tackle serious social issues, highlighting how youth voices are critical to community conversation.
