Dear School Community,
It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the loss of one of our Jr/Sr High School students, Charief Spratley. This tragedy has profoundly affected our school community, and our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, and all who are grieving.
We recognize that this news is difficult and may bring up a range of emotions. Please know that we are here to support our students, staff, and families through this challenging time. Our school crisis team is available, and a dedicated space has been created for students who would like to speak with a counselor.
Crisis team members will be available Friday, July 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Monday, July 21, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Senior High School to provide support and resources. Due to ongoing construction, please use the Boost Academy entrance to access the building.
We encourage you to talk openly with your children about how they are feeling and to reassure them that it is okay to feel a wide range of emotions. If you believe your child may need additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our counseling team.
To support you at home, we have attached a document listing local counseling agencies, community resources, and crisis hotline numbers.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact the Senior High School Student Support Office at (845) 647-0138.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Wiles
Superintendent
