The Jr/Sr High School Student Council hosted its most successful Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in over a decade on October 25. With over 100 participants including students, staff, and community members, the event raised more than $2,600 for breast cancer research and support.
The day was filled with energy, teamwork, and community spirit. The school was honored to welcome representatives from Ellenville Regional Hospital, Mayor Evan Trent, local village and town candidates, and SUNY Sullivan participants, whose involvement reflected the strong ties between the school and the broader community.
Many participants walked in honor of loved ones—those who have fought, those currently fighting, and those lost to this disease. Breast cancer survivors and other cancer survivors joined the walk, along with community members currently battling the disease. Their courage and resilience reminded everyone why this cause matters so deeply.
This event showcased what can happen when the school and community come together for a cause larger than themselves. The Student Council is already looking forward to building on this momentum in the spring with their Heat vs. Suns Basketball Game in support of the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
