STEM diorama project

In Lainie Pfeffer-Burns' Grade 7 STEM/STEAM class at Ellenville Jr/Sr High School, students explored technology through a stone age lens with an innovative primitive technology project. Their challenge was to research Stone Age innovations—think fire-starting tools, shelter structures, and containers for water and food.

Students began with hand-drawn designs, which they then converted into digital formats before constructing their creations as dioramas. To truly immerse themselves in the Stone Age mindset, students could only use natural materials like leaves, clay, and twigs to build and secure their structures. Talk about thinking outside the box!

Tomorrow, November 8, marks National STEM/STEAM Day, and Ellenville Central School District is proud to champion interdisciplinary learning that prepares students for tomorrow's challenges!
