We are writing to inform you of an important change to attendance expectations for Grades 7 and 8 during Regents Week this January.
What's Changed
In previous years, students in Grades 7 and 8 did not attend school during Regents Week if they were not scheduled to take a Regents examination. This year, Grades 7 and 8 students will attend school on select days during Regents Week to ensure continuity of learning and meaningful instructional time.
Regents Week Schedule for Grades 7 & 8 Week of January 19–23
Monday, January 19: No school for all students (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
Tuesday, January 20 – Wednesday, January 21: No school for Grades 7 and 8 due to Regents examinations
Thursday, January 22 & Friday, January 23: Grades 7 and 8 will attend school for regularly scheduled instruction
Why This Matters
Attendance on January 22 and 23 is important to maintain instructional continuity, reinforce learning routines, and provide students with meaningful academic engagement during this week.
Transportation
Students who receive bus transportation will follow their regularly scheduled transportation program on these days.
