MBK

On November 18, Ellenville Junior/Senior High School proudly inducted 31 fellows from Grades 8-12 into the My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) program. More than 75 students, faculty, family members, and other guests attended the event, which honored the enrollment of the inductees with a special ceremony.

Deputy Mayor Reverend Raymond Younger gave a welcome and commentary on the origins of positive youth development in Ellenville and the work of the African American Men’s Association, a voluntary community resource that laid the foundation for today’s work of the MBK Fellows program. Then, the new MBK members and their parents or guardians ceremoniously signed Commitment Letters stating a pledge to honor the following commitments: attend all classes and MBK functions, be on time for all classes and appointments, pass all courses, accept and utilize tutoring and exam preparation services, actively engage in community service, and serve as ambassadors and role models for others.

Also in attendance at the event were the leadership team of the Ellenville NAACP, members of Go Beyond Greatness Inc., and the Ulster County Youth Bureau. Truly, this was a great representation of the partnerships formed through the MBK program in collaboration with the Ellenville Central School District and local organizations.

Congratulations to all new MBK fellows!
