Students at UAlbany

Together with My Brother’s Keeper and Go Beyond Greatness, the Ellenville Junior/Senior High School Student Support Services Department took 34 students on a college tour to SUNY Albany and Hudson Valley Community College on February 29. The trip was a great opportunity for students - especially juniors and seniors - to explore two and four-year colleges in the SUNY system. Half of these students had participated in a four-session college preparatory program called "Map My Future," which was led by Ashley Knox, executive director of Go Beyond Greatness. Several students in Grades 9 and 10 who were also part of the Map My Future program joined the college tour as well.

During the tour, the Blue Devils met with admissions counselors and student representatives. Each college outlined its academic programs, admissions process, academic supports, scholarships, tuition assistance programs, work-study options, and residential life. The group also got to meet with SUNY Albany student Amelia Benjamin, who graduated from Ellenville in 2023.

This trip concludes the second round of college tours for the 2023-2024 school year. The spring tours will include SUNY New Paltz, Bard College, Lincoln Technical School, and Culinary Institute of America.
