Celebrating 20 years of WELV

What a momentous milestone! On May 21, Ellenville celebrated the 20th Anniversary of WELV with a special live stream broadcast from the Ellenville Elementary Library running throughout the school day. Elementary students from all grade levels came on air in turns to introduce songs and give special shout-outs to teachers and family members, guided by radio operations manager Alan Buckler.

It's amazing to look back and see how far the station has come! The station held a similar broadcast back in 2015 for their 10th anniversary celebration—check out these side-by-side photos of our young radio DJs!

WELV has been a cornerstone of our school community for two decades, giving our students hands-on experience in broadcasting, media production, and communication skills. From humble beginnings to today's sophisticated programming, our student broadcasters continue to shine!

Thank you to everyone who tuned in, all the students and staff who made this celebration possible, and our community for supporting WELV throughout the years.

Here's to ten more years of student voices, learning, and community connection! 🎙️✨

As always, tune in to WELV at frequency 107.9 FM, an LPFM Radio Station, or Channel 20, an Educational Access TV Station available through Spectrum Cable.
