On November 8, the Ellenville Central School District honored veterans in our school community with a special ceremony in the Jr/Sr High School auditorium, followed by a communal meal in the cafeteria.
The program featured moving performances by the school chorus and remarks from Superintendent Lisa Wiles and Jr/Sr High School Assistant Principal Erika Fierro. During the ceremony, Wiles invited veterans in attendance to stand, introduce themselves, and share about their service.
Wiles recognized the staff members who organized the event and gave special thanks to veteran Charlie Dechon, whose advocacy inspired the District to launch this recognition event last year. She also thanked the students in attendance, noting that their "hard work and respect for our nation's veterans represent the best of our school community."
Thank you to our cafeteria staff for preparing a beautiful meal, to all who served, and to everyone who helped make this meaningful morning possible.
