Four Ellenville Elementary School students were celebrated yesterday (February 20) for achieving perfect attendance during the first 100 days of school! That means no late arrivals, no early dismissals—at school all day, every day! As a reward, these dedicated Blue Devils received 100 CHAMP Bucks to spend at the CHAMP Store. Amazing!

This Thursday, February 20, is our official 100th Day of School! Our students are 100 Days Smarter, and we're ready to show it off. Wear your "smartest" outfit (think glasses, bow ties, blazers, or dress clothes) as we celebrate this milestone! The celebration continues on Friday, February 21, for our 101st day of school as 101 Dalmatians Take Over EES! Come dressed in black and white to transform our school into a Dalmatian destination. Any combination works—polka dots, stripes, or solid colors—let's make EES look like a scene from our favorite puppy tale!

National School Resource Officer (SRO) Appreciation Day falls on Saturday, February 15 this year. Let's enter the weekend with extra appreciation for all that our SROs do! We honor our outstanding Officers Felicia Torres, Stephen Winchell, and Danielle Rodriguez. These dedicated professionals go far beyond just ensuring physical safety; they are mentors, protectors, and trusted allies for our students. Each day, these officers embody our District's core belief: students come first. Their commitment extends well beyond security—they're compassionate listeners, positive role models, and essential members of our school family. Thank you for keeping our students safe and making a daily difference in their lives!

Reminder: The Ellenville Central School District will be closed on Monday, February 17, in honor of Presidents' Day.

Did You Know?
Missing just one or two days of school every few weeks can cause students to fall behind academically. At the Ellenville Central School District, we believe every school day counts toward your child's success.
What counts as concerning attendance?
🟢 Satisfactory: 9 or fewer days missed per year
🟡 Warning Signs: 10-17 days missed per year
🔴 Chronic: 18+ days missed per year
How can families help promote consistent attendance?
✅ Establish solid daily routines, including homework time and bedtime.
✅ Schedule appointments outside school hours when possible.
✅ Reach out to friends, family, or neighbors if you need help with transportation.
✅ Talk with your child's teacher or counselor if your student feels anxious about school.
Remember: By Grade 9, attendance is actually a better predictor of graduation rates than Grade 8 test scores! Let's work together to give our students the best chance at success.

Please note: The Ellenville Junior High School Drama Club’s Saturday performance of “Beetlejuice Jr.” is being moved from 7 PM to 3 PM to avoid the possible winter weather.
