Missing just one or two days of school every few weeks can cause students to fall behind academically. At the Ellenville Central School District, we believe every school day counts toward your child's success.
What counts as concerning attendance?
🟢 Satisfactory: 9 or fewer days missed per year
🟡 Warning Signs: 10-17 days missed per year
🔴 Chronic: 18+ days missed per year
How can families help promote consistent attendance?
✅ Establish solid daily routines, including homework time and bedtime.
✅ Schedule appointments outside school hours when possible.
✅ Reach out to friends, family, or neighbors if you need help with transportation.
✅ Talk with your child's teacher or counselor if your student feels anxious about school.
Remember: By Grade 9, attendance is actually a better predictor of graduation rates than Grade 8 test scores! Let's work together to give our students the best chance at success.
This past week, Grade 10 student Maddy Noval attended the 2025 Youth Leadership Forum, an annual event in Albany that brings young leaders together for two days of interactive workshops, team-building, and discussions on leadership and civic engagement. Maddy was accompanied by County Youth Bureau Director Sugely Melenciano-Weed, and also had the opportunity to meet State Senator Michelle Hinchey. Thank you, Maddy, for elevating the needs of our County’s youth at the state level!
Please note: The Ellenville Junior High School Drama Club’s Saturday performance of “Beetlejuice Jr.” is being moved from 7 PM to 3 PM to avoid the possible winter weather. Anyone who purchased advance tickets for Saturday who would now prefer to attend the Friday evening performance will have their tickets honored at that show.

It's almost showtime! Don't forget that the Ellenville Junior High School Drama Club will be performing "Beetlejuice Jr." on Friday, February 7, and Saturday, February 8, at 7 PM, in the Jr/Sr High School auditorium. Tickets are $6 each and will be sold at the door. You won't want to miss it!
This week (February 3-7) is National School Counselors Week, and we're celebrating our exceptional Ellenville Central School District counselors who provide the comprehensive support our students need to succeed. Attention, Ellenville juniors and seniors! Join us on a College Tour to SUNY Cortland on Friday, March 28. The bus will be leaving Ellenville Junior/Senior High School at 7:45 AM and returning at 3:15 PM. Space is limited and seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Permission slips can be picked up in the Student Support Office and must be returned by Friday, March 21. Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Basketball seniors, who were honored during their Senior Night this week. They are: Jon Caban, Elijah Moran, Koltin Pickell, Neyvon James, Malik Barrett, Alen Ibric, and Kwaku Boahen. To top off the night, the Ellenville team came away with a victory against Rhinebeck. Go, Blue Devils!
Several students from the Ellenville Music Department proudly represented our school district at the annual Ulster County Music Educators Association's All-County Choir Festival, held on January 24 and 25.
Participants in the Elementary Chorus included Pedro Cabrera, Norah Althouse, Giuliana McNeil, and Melanie Castillo.
Participants in the Junior High Chorus were Elna Pagan, Sophiana Jacobs, Maegann Wright, Ethan Cruz, Isabella Velazquez, and Noemi Mandiville.
Participants in the Senior High Chorus were Danna Velazquez, Jack Henry, Caige Burns, Aidan Blauvelt, Braely Peavey, and Lyla Denman.

Kudos to the Ellenville Boys Varsity Winter Track team, which earned the title of Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association (OCIAA) Division Champions for the second year in a row! Congratulations to Anthony Murdoc, who was named an OCIAA Division IV Champion in the 55-meter hurdles and Crystian Zelinky, who was named an OCIAA Division IV Champion in the long jump and triple jump.

Each month a student from the Junior High School and Senior High School Band is selected as Musician of the Month. Students earn this title by demonstrating excellent effort, growth, achievement, and leadership in the instrumental music program. Congratulations to our Band Musicians of the Month for November! Students earn this title by demonstrating excellent effort and a drive to think, create, and express ideas through works of art. Congratulations to our Artists of the Month for December! REMINDER! Ellenville's Coaches vs. Cancer Varsity Basketball Double Header will be taking place today (January 10) in the Junior/Senior High School gymnasium. The Girls team will play at 4:30 PM and the Boys team will compete at 6 PM. This special night honors our brave school community members who are currently battling cancer, and all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Come cheer on our Blue Devils and support a great cause!
This is a reminder for Ellenville Junior/Senior High School students that Regents Exams will be administered on January 21, 22, 23, and 24. Only students who are scheduled to take exams on these dates are expected to come to school at the times of their exams.
The Ellenville Boys Basketball team defeated Millbrook on January 7, by a final score of 65-60. Alen Ibric scored 14 points and Josh Ramirez scored 11 points. Go, Blue Devils!
